Puri

The Puri is an other variation of the Chapati, it is also produced from the same dough and then, however, not baked separate fried. The Puri is a traditional side dish for curry dishes, it is eaten above all to potato curry, lentils curry and chicken curry. In India the round flat dough-cake bread serves not only as a side dish, but replaces also the instruments. In India it is eaten mostly only with the hands, however, only with the right hand, because the left hand is valid as impure. A piece of uncompleted bread is suited very well as a spoon substitute and in the end the sauce can be still wiped by the plate.

Ingredients for 12 pieces Puri:

2 cups Chapati or wholemeal flour
¾ cups of warm water
½ cups of vegetable oil
½ teaspoons salt


Preparation
Flour, salt and water in a bowl give and well mix. If the Puris should become sharp or spicy, still curcuma, cumins, Cayenne Pepper or Coriander powder add.
The dough during about 5 minutes knead, he should be nicely soft and not be sticky. Afterwards to a sphere form, cover with a culinary cloth and for about 30 minutes leave. Then over again well knead, share into 12 pieces, to small sphere form and level press. The work surface dredge with some flour and then to about 14 cm round flat dough-cakes roll out. The oil and some salt in a frying pan give and heat up. A round flat dough-cake in the frying pan give, wait to him rises and then turn. Afterwards best of all on culinary paper let drain. The Puris should be served best of all quite hotly. They taste very well to Dhal and different curry to dishes.
